Is the Golden Age of Flying Over? Survey Shows Americans Disgruntled

Americans Believe Air Travel Has Reached New Lows

A recent surge in air travel complaints highlights a growing frustration among flyers. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, a record 97,000 complaints were filed in 2023, surpassing the previous high of 86,000 in 2022. This increase coincides with a rise in flight delays, with nearly a quarter of all domestic flights experiencing disruptions last year.

While the reasons for this discontent are complex, some point to a surge in passenger volume following the pandemic. Others attribute it to a heightened awareness of passenger rights, leading to more complaints being filed. The Department of Transportation is working to streamline the complaint process to better address traveler concerns and hold airlines accountable for service issues.
