Where to sunbathe affordably in Europe this summer?

Top Affordable Beach Destinations in Europe to Enjoy a Budget-Friendly Summer

If you're looking to lounge on the beach this summer but have a limited budget, here are some destination ideas that should fulfill your desires.

The Most Affordable European Beaches to Enjoy a Tranquil Summer

According to a recent study conducted by Omio, travelers seeking affordable beach destinations have plenty of options in Europe. Many beaches offer the opportunity to enjoy the sea without breaking the bank.

Omio, a transportation booking platform, compared the prices of ice cream, water, and beer on 75 popular beaches across the continent to establish a ranking of the ten least expensive places. Weather data was also taken into account to prioritize destinations with pleasant temperatures.

Turkey, the Land of Affordable Beaches Unsurprisingly, Turkey emerges as the top destination for budget-friendly vacations. In fact, out of the top ten destinations, three are in Turkey, with the winner of the ranking being a Turkish beach.

Cleopatra Beach, located in the resort town of Alanya on the Turkish Riviera, stands out as the least expensive beach on the list. Its wide stretches of sand have made it a popular destination for decades. Vacationers can also indulge in ice cream for just €0.12 per scoop, while the prices of water and beer are also affordable, reaching approximately €0.37 and €1.64, respectively.

Two other Turkish beaches also made it into the ranking. Side Halk Beach in Side offers the cheapest water among all the destinations studied, with a bottle costing around €0.20. In eighth position, Yashi Beach in Bodrum is an affordable option compared to many other renowned European beaches. Vacationers can enjoy ice cream for €0.50, a bottle of water for €0.28, and a beer for €1.86.

Craving inexpensive beers? Head to Montenegro For those dreaming of sipping a cold beer on the sand, Montenegro is a good choice. Long Beach in Ulcinj offers beer bottles at an incredibly low price of €0.87. This beach, appropriately named with its 13 kilometers in length, is a paradise for kiteboarding and windsurfing enthusiasts due to the consistent winds throughout the summer.

Formentera, Affordable Balearic Islands The island of Formentera in Spain provides an affordable alternative to Majorca and Ibiza for budget-conscious travelers. Playa de Ses Illetes is the perfect spot for those who find Majorca too crowded and Ibiza too expensive. Pleasant temperatures averaging around 25 degrees Celsius make it an attractive destination. Prices for basic items such as bottled water (€0.77), local beer (€0.94), and an average ice cream scoop (€0.92) are affordable for vacationers.

However, there remains a significant hurdle: reaching these distant destinations. Flight tickets have skyrocketed this summer, especially to Turkey. A round-trip ticket for August from Paris or London to Bodrum or Antalya costs between 400 and 700 euros.

Note: Prices mentioned are based on the study conducted by Omio and are subject to change. It is advisable to check current prices and availability before planning your trip.
